FAQ

Do I need a referral?

You do not need a referral to see a psychologist. However, to be eligible to obtain Medicare rebates you will require a referral from your GP.

Under a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP), a Medicare rebate of $124.50 per session is available for up to 10 sessions per calendar year.

Under a referral for Non-Directive Perinatal Counselling, a Medicare rebate of approximately $60 is available for up to 3 sessions for individuals who are currently pregnant or have been pregnant in the previous 12 months and are seeking support around pregnancy-related issues.

How long is a session?

Sessions are 50-minutes in length.

How much do sessions cost?

Sessions cost $180. If you are eligible for the Medicare rebate under a MHCP, you will be $55.50 out of pocket.

Payment is required in full at the end of each session, and rebates are generally processed within 1 to 2 business days.

What happens if I can not make an appointment?

Changes made later than 9 am on the weekday prior to your scheduled appointment incur a fee of $80.
